GEISHA HOUSE

Proposal for The Geisha House — A Restaurant, Lounge & Bar that embraces the traditional Kyoto culture from 1920 to the modern and all the way into a futuristic Tokyo of 2050.

A hospitality concept with a twist, the project brought together the finer aspects of the far east culture intermingling with my love for branding, design and food, resulting in a concept, visual identity, interior elements and a style guide that details the journey, albeit briefly the story of an “okiya”.

The project expected to open at the InterContinental Dubai Marina towards the year end never left the conceptual stage.

Ushering patrons into a worldview, a paradigm shift — experience the tantalising and exquisite world of fine Japanese dining. With its signature take on tradition, it unobstrusivly connects the past, present and future, ensuring the discerning clientele come back for more.

The identity is comprised of two unique hand drawn forms.

The inner letter form that creates “gh”— calligraphy inspired from the geographic grid of the Japanese islands and, the outer form — the circular stroke in red, representing the inclusivity of food.

It has been designed with the intention of being strong enough to communicate the unique brand identity without any need for additional text or design elements.
